EB-1A for researchers and scientists
How researchers use publications, citations, peer review, and original contributions for EB-1A — and where citation counts are not enough.
Who this is for
PhD scientists, postdocs, and industry researchers who can show independent impact.
Evidence that usually matters
- Scholarly articles in journals that actually circulate in the field
- Citations and downstream use by independent groups
- Judging: manuscript or grant review for independent venues
- Original contribution: method or finding others adopted, not only ‘first author’
What often does not hold up
- A paper count without independent citation or adoption
- Self-citations treated as acclaim
- Membership that anyone can buy
EB-1A is a self-petition. You can be in any country. Meeting three criteria is only Step 1. Final merits still has to show sustained acclaim.
